This will be our second time here.
The first time we were here we did not eat and
again we were only out for the growlers so we didn’t
take much in notes. Our
friends (Todd and Laura) came along with us and we will
post their ratings also.
Since there are now two Todd’s present, we’ll
refer to our friend as Todd P.
The four of us sat in a booth and we ordered 2
samplers. In
the sampler we had: Firelight
Lager, Vulcan’s Vienna Ale, Burning Brand Bitter (strong
aftertaste and hoppy), Roaring Red Ale, Promethean Porter,
Octoberfest, and German Alt.
Jimmy waited on us and to eat Cheryl and Todd
split the Onion Porter Soup (which we thought was okay,
but we’ve had better), and the Portobello Ravioli.
Laura got the Cherry Chicken Salad, she’s had
this before and loves it.
Her husband Todd P. got the Brewhouse Beef sandwich
with Aujus. Todd
said the Sandwich was great, but the aujus bowl was too
small for the big sandwich to dip into – this is a good
thing.
Todd and Cheryl really liked the Porter and the
Octoberfest and we had our growler
re-filled with the Octoberfest.
The Burning Brand Bitter sat on the back of the tongue and
wouldn't go away. The other Todd could not
decide what to re-fill his growler with and he finally
ended up with the Vulcan’s Vienna Ale. Now for
the beer ratings with Todd P.'s special comments!
Todd & Cheryl's ratings are below.

The four of us did stop by here before going to
Bonfire but they didn’t open until 5 pm on Saturday. Laura, Cheryl, and Todd came back here for dinner.
Laura’s husband Todd P. had to go help his sister
with some yard work.
This place is very nice inside.
It’s hard to describe and you’ll have to look
at the other pictures we took.
They specialize in Soul, Creole, Cajun food.
On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights at 8:00pm
they have live Jazz.
We left by 7:00 p.m. so did not get to hear the
Jazz band. We
will definitly be back here again and plan on coming a
little later so we can here the Jazz.
We sat at the first bar and John and Michelle
waited on us. They
both knew a lot about the food and beer.
We had a great time with them.
Michelle indicated that Etouffee means
“smothering”, or “too smother”.
They have only been open for about 3 weeks and
are located in the Star Theater building.
Right now it is hard to tell they are open since a
major renovation job is going on outside and they only
have a small banner sign above the door (no signs out by
the road).
In our sampler we tasted:
Light (lo-cal and lo-carb), Golden Ale, Raspberry
Wheat, American Pale Ale, Stout, and Red Ale (their
seasonal). We
really liked the Stout and that’s what we got our
growler filled with.
To eat Laura had the Jumbo fried
Shrimp with buttermilk whipped potatoes, and green beans.
Cheryl had the Blackened Catfish with buttermilk
whipped potatoes, and collard greens.
Cheryl had originally ordered the beer battered
Catfish, but the Blackened was brought to her in error.
Once she tried it she loved it and was very glad
they made the error.
Todd had a bowl of the Seafood Gumbo.
We knew we should bring the other Todd some food
home, so we ordered him the BBQ Beef Briskett sandwich
with a side of potatoes – the sandwich was huge, but the
potato serving was quite small.
Cheryl also ordered a slice of Sweet Potatoe Pie to
go and they ended up bringing us two.
All the food was good.
Todd was able to pick up yet another pint glass
here.
