December
2001
We ended up making a few different
trips here. This
time we took Cheryl’s brother to try some microbrew.
They have cook your own steak, kind of a bummer you pay
$12.00 for a steak and cook it too.
To save $2.00 you might as well have them cook it
for you. Isn’t that what going out is for? Wonder how many people burn them selves.
Another attraction they have is the Clydesdale
horses and carriage rides.
We all sat the bar and we shared a
sampler. The
one we liked the best was Cleary Red and if they had
growlers we would have filled it with this.
So instead we bought a 3 pack of 22 oz bottles:
Stump Sitter Stout, Cleary Red, and October Fest.
The brews here were average at best and we were
surprised that the stout wasn’t better.
We tried the stuffed mushrooms and they were good.
At this time we were told they would fill a growler
from somewhere else, unfortunately, we didn’t have a
growler with us.

March 2002
The second trip here was for a family
birthday dinner. We
thought this was a great opportunity to bring a growler
for a fill. They
still had no growlers and would not fill the one we
brought. They
were hoping to have growlers soon.
The food was okay, nothing real spectacular.
The steaks came with this huge pile of mushrooms
and onions, so many you couldn’t eat them all.
March 2003
Finally after making several, phone
calls, they now have growlers on March 3, 2003. We were
able to get one. Cleary Red was the one we chose to fill it with.
Too bad they’re closed now after putting so much into
the place. There
is a Hereford & Hops in
Escanaba.
When we did our U.P. trip we didn’t go to this
one, ended up being out of the way.
