Belle Isle

After our visit with Kuhnhenn we went to our hotel to have some brew.  Lucky for us a Joe’s Crab Shack was just a mile away so we walked down for some awesome seafood.  It was a good thing we walked, we ate a lot and it was great.  The walk back to the hotel helped digest all that food.  The next day, we decided to head to the Belle Isle Park.  We took a lot of pictures at the aquarium, Scott Memorial Fountain, and the Conservatory.  Definitely worth the visit if you are in the area.  (click here to see pics)

Our fun time at the park was over so we began the drive home.  On our way home we decided that it would be a perfect time to stop at Thunder Bay Brewing Co.

Todd had conveniently discovered that Alcatraz was gone and replaced with Thunder Bay.  Work brought him to the area and he had planned on getting a growler re-fill.  It sure was surprising to see that the Golden Gate Bridge was now the Mackinaw Bridge and instead of inmates on the walls, it now held pictures of all the lighthouses of Michigan.  Todd also found out that they still have the same brewer.

Well, of course Todd had to get a new growler, also now collecting pint glasses, he purchased 7 different glasses (labeled with their different brew names) and a shot glass.  Cheryl thought the stuff was great, but disappointed to not have been there too.

Cheryl was excited to be able to check this out this time - it is so cool inside with the Mackinaw Bridge and pictures of lighthouses on the walls.  All the pictures are aerial views and taken by the same photographer.

We sat at the bar, or I should say, stood (long drive).  Ordered a sampler and had the following.  As you can see we don't care for a real Hoppy brew.  Some people may not like the darks like we do.   We loved the Porter and got a growler of that.
